As of March 15, 2016 , foreign travelers who were exempt from visa prennant a flight to Canada or passing through Canada, must obtain an electronic travel authorization . This requirement does not apply in part to US citizens and travelers with a valid visa.
However, the March 15, 2016 until September 29, 2016 , travelers who have no AVE will still be able to board their flight , provided they have proper travel documents such as a valid passport.
As of March 15, 2016 , nationals of the following countries and territories will need an electronic registration before boarding a plane to Canada. This registration is not required in the case of entering the country by land or sea .
This ETA allows you to stay up to 6 months on Canadian territory .
The ETA is an electronic document related to your passport and is valid for five years or until your passport expires , whichever comes first of these contingencies occur.

Note that Canada accepts that skilled immigrants . To work in Canada must obtain a work permit .
