BUSINESS VISA / TRAINING PERIOD (<6months) (M)
- VSI order form in 2 copies
- Passport with at least two blank visa pages face to face. It has to :
· Be valid for at least nine months after the visa is issued for a three month visa
· Be valid for at least fifteen months after the visa is issued for a one year visa
- One photograph in colors, recent, passport type photograph (35 mm x 45mm) , taken against a white background

- Letter of Invitation from the company the applicant is visiting (original or copy). The letter must:
· Be on company letterhead paper
· Be adressed to the Chinese Embassy in Paris
· Be signed and indicate the name and function of the signatory
· State the address and the phone number of the company
· State the name, forename, date of birth and sex of the applicant
· Include :
· the passport number of the applicant
· entry and exit dates and the length of stay or 2 dates of journey (entries and exits) on a 3 or 6 months period for double entry visa applications or 3 dates of journey (entries and exits) on a 6 months period for a multiple entry visa application
· the type of visa, the number of entries and the visa validity you will need
· the exact object of the trip
· the cities visited
· an official stamp (Chinese red stamp) and the signature of the Chinese company
· Indicate who will take in charge all the fees involved
AND
Letter of invitation from the Chinese Foreign Ministry issued by a Duly Authorised Unit
· Bear the seal and signature of the inviting unit
· State the applicants date of birth
· State the visa validity and numbers of entries required
· Be issued within the last six months
- Copy of Passport Identification Page (missing copy will be charged 0.50 €)
- Copy of all the previous Chinese visa in the passport (each missing copy will be charged 0.50 €)

Specific Cases :
- Double Entry Applicants
Travellers applying for a double entry visa must provide a copy of two flight confirmations showing two onward/return travels 6 months
- Multiple Entry Applicants
Applicants applying for a multiple entry visa and providing the letter of invitation issued by the Chinese company must make sure the letter states 3 dates of journey (entry and exit dates) and is signed and stamped. Please be advised that applications being issued at the Embassy's discretion, the issued visa may be downgraded to a three month validity for a six month validity request
- One Year Multiple Entry Applicants: For a one year validity visa, the letter of invitation should be an official letter issued by the local competent authorities and be signed and stamped. See an example of official letter here.
- Proof of Previous Visas (will need to provide copies even if the previously issued visas can be found in your actual passport)
· Applicants requiring a one year multiple entry must supply a clear copy of 3 previously issued visas
· Applicants requiring a 6 month multiple entry visa must provide a clear copy of 2 previously issued visas
· Applicants requiring a 6 month double entry visa must provide a clear copy of a previously issued visa.
- Chairmen or Chief Executives
Chairmen or chief executive officers must provide a copy of the k-bis of the company or a copy of the "Certificat d'inscription au Répertoire des Entreprises et des Etablissements" of the company including SIRET and SIREN identification number. The document provided must have been issued no longer than 3 months before the date of application
- Foreigners (europeans) living in France : Add a work certificate. For citizens of Romania and Bulgaria, please join also a copy of your last 3 pay slips
- Foreigners (non-europeans) living in France : The original residence permit is required + a copy. For holders of African passport, please join also a copy of your last 6 bank account (a minimum of 5000 € is required on the bank account).

TOURIST VISA (L)
- VSI order form in 2 copies

- Proof of Employment. This can be provided by submitting one of the following:
· A letter from the applicant's employer confirming the occupation, the length of service and remuneration (if the salary is not stated, please provide the last 3 payslips). This letter must be signed and stamped by the employer
· For self-employed people and chairmen or chief executive officers, evidence of available funds must be provided as a copy of the applicant's last three bank statements show a minimum balance of 1.000€ or a copy of the applicant's last tax statement
· A copy of the applicant's student card or school certificate
· For retired people, proof of retirement pension. This must be provided as a copy of the applicant's retirement benefit statement for the current year
· For unemployed people, evidence of available funds must be provided as a copy of the applicant's last three bank statements. These must all show a balance of at least 1.000€
- Proof of Travel and Repatriation Insurance valid for the duration of the entire trip. The certificate must state the full name of the applicant, the country where the insurance is valid
- Hotel reservation confirmation (for at least 1 night) or Letter of Invitation if you stay with Family or Friends
The letter of invitation must:
· State the applicant's name, forename, sex, address and birthdate
· State all the information concerning the visit: the exact object of the visit, entry and exit dates, the places to be visited, the relation between the applicant and the inviting party, the exact origin of the expenses involved during the journey
· State the inviting party's name, telephone number, address and signature
Together with: copy of the identity card of the Chinese host or copy of the passport identification page and of the visa if the host is a non Chinese citizen
- Proof of financial means (copy of the last 3 payslips, or last tax notice, or retirement allowance
Specific cases :
- Foreigners (Europeans) living in France: Add a work certificate. For citizens of Romania and Bulgaria, please join also a copy of your last 3 pay slips
- Foreigners (non-Europeans) living in France : The original residence permit is required + a copy. For holders of African passport, please join also a copy of your last 6 bank account (a minimum of 5000 € is required on the bank account).
- Minors :
Children under the age of 18 are must provide the following documents :
· A copy of the family book or a copy of the minor's birth certificate
· A statement letter issued by the minor's parents confirming the trip to China of their underaged child accompanied by one of the parents. The statement letter should be signed by both parents
· A copy of the parents's identity cards or passports
· A notarised copy of the divorce certificate which states the guardian of the child, where applicable
STUDENT VISA
Please provide original documents + 1 copy of each

- Scolarship certificate or a copy of your student card
- Certificate of admission in the chinese school
- Official Letter of Invitation issued by the chinese autorities

FAMILY VISIT VISA
Please provide original documents + 1 copy of each
Provide the documents mentionned in the Tourist section + the following :
- Copy of the family record
- Letter of invitation from your relative. This letter has to :
· State the dates of travel
· State the contact information : address, telephone number
· State the applicant information : name, surname, sex, date of birth, passport number
· Bear the signature of the inviting relative
- Copy of Passport Identification Page of the inviting person + copy if his visa or residence permit (if not chinese)
WORK VISA (Z)
- VSI order form in 2 copies
- Passport with at least two blank visa pages face to face. It has to :
· Be valid for at least nine months after the visa is issued for a three month visa
· Be valid for at least fifteen months after the visa is issued for a one year visa
- Three photographs in colors, recents, passport type photograph (35 mm x 45mm) , taken against a white background

· Original Letter of Invitation from the Chinese Foreign Ministry issued by a Duly Authorised Unit
· Original Work License (work permit)
· Copy of the Work License
Or Approval issued by the National Administration Bureau of China's foreign experts + 1 copy
Or Ratification by the representative office of foreign enterprises in China issued by the Ministry of Commerce + 1 copy
Or Certificate of Education of the representative office of foreign companies issued by the National Office of Administration of Industry and Commerce + 1 copy
- For accompanying if married
Documents 1 to 6 plus :
· 2 Copies of the Letter of Invitation from the Chinese Foreign Ministry issued by a Duly Authorised Unit. It has to state the names of the whole family
· Copy of the Family Register
· Copy of the residence permit of the expatriate in order to obtain the S visa type
- For accompanying if not married
Please apply for tourist visa and add a Copy of those documents:
· Original Letter of Invitation from the Chinese Foreign Ministry issued by a Duly Authorised Unit
· Original Work License
The consulate will deliver a Tourist Visa valid for 6 month renewable and allowing to obtain the residence permit in China
WARNING :
On arrival, the Chinese authorities may ask for a Criminal record. This document has to be first translated and then legalized. VSI can do the translation and legalization, please contact our legalization department.
WARNING :
In accordance with the laws in force in China, holders of visas type Z, D, X and J1 have to go within 30 days of arrival in China, go to the Bureau of Public Security from their place of residence to obtain the resident permit.
TRANSIT VISA (G)
The consulate recommand you to obtain the visa prior departure.
Transit without visa is possible for holders of onward tickets. It is possible to leave the airport except for those nationals who need to obtain a visa prior arrival : Hong Kong, Macao, British Overseas, and holders of Taiwan residence permit.
To obtain the Transit visa, please provide the following documents :
- VSI order form in 2 copies
- Passport with at least two blank visa pages face to face. It has to be valid for at least six months after the visa is issued.
- Copy of Passport Identification Page
- Two photographs in colors, recents, passport type photograph (35 mm x 45mm) , taken against a white background

* Since 1 January 2013, French citizens (and those of 45 countries) may receive a transit visa for 72 hours without in Shanghai (Pudong and Hongqiao airports). To avail this facility, passengers must be in possession of a confirmed ticket to a third country and, if necessary, a visa for this country. They are not allowed to leave the municipality of Shanghai, and must leave within 72 hours to a third country for which they have a reservation.
Remember that this opportunity is for transit passengers to a third country ... So a round trip between France and Beijing, even for a period less than 72 hours is subject to the visa requirement (see categories higher visa) but if you plan to visit Japan, the Philippines, Australia, then this is for you. The pass can be obtained at the airport (special file).

| VISA VALIDITY |

BUSINESS: The visa is valid for 3, 6 or 12 months. The duration of stay permitted is 30 days from your date of arrival (60 or 90 days is you have done the request). The consul is the only one to decide which duration of stay and validity you will obtain. VSI cannot guarantee you which visa you will obtain. By default, the consulate issues visas valid for 3 months (1 entry) and 30 days of stay allowed. For Americans, the visa is valid for 10 years.
TOURIST : The visa is valid for 3 months with 1 or 2 entries maximum. The stay cannot exceed 30 days (except if you have asked for a special 60 days stay visa) FAMILY VISIT : Visa valid for 3 or 6 months (depends on the application), for 1, 2 or multiples entries. WORK : Visa valid for 1 month and 1 entry, convertible in long term visa in China. STUDENT : Visa valid for 180 days stay max. TRAINNING : The visa is valid for the period mentionned in the invitation. Max stay : 90 days. CONFERENCE "F" : Visa valid for 3 months and1 or 2 entries. TRANSIT : Visa valid for 3 months. Max stay : 7 days.
The type of visa, duration of stay allowed and numlber of entries, depends on the consul decison.
Nota : Your stay in China can exceed the date of expiry of your visa but you have to enter in China before the expiry date. Then your stay cannot exceed the maximum allowed by your visa.
In case or error on your visa: An error on your surname is not a problem. The consulate only correct error on passport number or date of birth. |
