Request for VISA COSTA RICA

No visa requirements for:

  • Nationals of the European Union, USA, Canada, Argentina, Brazil if they stay less than 90 days (exception: 30 days for Ireland)
  • Australians, Monegasques and New Zealand if stay less than 1 month .

These persons are allowed to enter and stay in Costa Rica on presentation:

  • A passport valid for 3 months after the return date
  • From an A / R ticket (or continuation to another country)
  • Sufficient funds
  • Health Form

French nationals wishing to spend more than 90 days in Costa Rica must file an immigration file with the Costa Rican embassy in Paris or with the immigration authorities in San José. For more information, consult the website of the "Direccion general de migracion y extranjeria" .

If you need a visa:

Unfortunately, VSI can not act as an intermediary . Procedure for obtaining a visa:

  • To obtain the visa, an appointment must be made with the consular authority to file the application and to bring the required documents. The Consulate does not accept the submission of the visa application by post.
  • Appointment appointments are only given within 60 days of the date of departure from Costa Rica.
  • You can make an appointment by phone or e-mail with the date of departure from Costa Rica.

Present all original documents + 1 copy

  • Original passport valid 6 months after the date of return + Copy (photocopy must show the pages containing the person's identification data, if the passport is revalidated, the pages containing the revalidation and the pages containing the visas Allocated by a third country or by Costa Rica
  • Visa application form
  • Present the International Yellow Fever Certificate * if you have been in one of the countries at risk mentioned in the list at the bottom of the page in "Additional Information"
  • Reservation of the return ticket or the one-way ticket and the continuity ticket (Original + Copy)
  • Document proving your economic solvency (example: last 3 extracts from bank statements, proof of employment, traveler's checks, credit card with confirmation from the bank confirming the available credit)
  • Residence permit valid for at least 6 months for foreigners (Receipts of requests for residence permits are not accepted)

TRANSIT

Info: If your application is a transit visa application, you must not present proof of creditworthiness.

  • Visa application form to be completed on site

Validity of visa

The visa must be used within a maximum of 60 days from the date of issue

Visa valid for 1 single entry in the country (except multiple entry visas issued by the Directorate General of Migration and Foreigners)

Multiple visas (for multiple entries) are granted to entrepreneurs or businessmen and their attribution requires the prior authorization of the Costa Rican migratory authorities.

On leaving Costa Rica via the international airport, a tax of USD 26 per person is required before boarding. This tax may also be paid in settlers.

Health

Non-potable water, recommended malaria treatment

Yellow fever vaccine is required for travelers who have stayed or will remain a few days in some countries before arriving in Costa Rica.

Geographic areas at risk

Sub-Saharan Africa :

Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, Gambia, Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Sudan

South America :

Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela

The Caribbean: French Guiana

However, the International Certificate against yellow fever should not be presented:

- People who "on their trajectory to Costa Rica have made a transit through the countries at risk, in the airports, ports and cross-border posts of the countries at risk".

- Travelers who, "although they have been in countries at risk before entering the national territory, have been at least six days in a country which is not at risk and have not during that period Contracted with fever. "

- Persons under nine years of age

- People with a strong egg allergy.

- People with immunodepression

- People who are sick or have

- People over sixty.

- Pregnant or nursing women

- People with a family history unfavorable to yellow fever vaccination.

- People with hypersensitivity to gelatin.

- People with asymptomatic infection with HIV, with checking by a laboratory of the proper function of the immune system.

* Some important remarks:

The said medical certificate must be presented at the moment of entry and it must be certified by the national health authority of the country of origin.

It should be mentioned that the certificate is valid from the 10th day after the vaccination which credits it, and that any person entering the country, either temporarily or permanently, must be required to do so.

The international certificate is not required because of the nationality if not the provenance of this country at risk
