WARNINGTravelers with dual nationality or who have visited after March 2011 Iran, Iraq, Syria or Sudan will no longer be able to benefit from the ESTA Visa Waiver Program to travel to the United States without a visa.Since 21 January 2016, the United States has added restrictions to the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) program for the purpose of countering terrorism. Thus, persons with dual Iraqi , Syrian or Sudanese nationality , or who have visited these three countries in the last five years, can no longer benefit from the visa exemption: they must apply for a visa through embassies, consulates or other Diplomatic representations. The only exception to these new restrictions is that the soldiers of the allied countries who have fought alongside US troops in Iraq will be exempt from visas. Humanitarian workers and journalists could also be exempted "on a case-by-case basis". As from 1 April 2016, it will also be compulsory for all ESTA-administered travelers to use an electronic (biometric) passport to travel to the United States. |
